About

I have lived in South Carolina all my life. I grew up in Central, went to College of Charleston, and studied law at the University of South Carolina School of Law in Columbia. I am happy to call York County home since 1994 when I moved to York to start my first job as an attorney.

In my personal and professional life, I strive to leave a positive impact on those around me. I became a lawyer to help people and help make our world a better place. Family law disputes can be the most uncertain and overwhelming times in a person’s life. Most of my decades of practicing law have been in the family courts of South Carolina in the following areas:  divorce, custody, separation, child support, contempt actions, marital agreements, paternity actions, name changes, and adoptions.  Having an experienced attorney by your side is an asset during this chapter of your life.

I realize that litigation is expensive. It is my obligation to guide you through the process and identify possible resolutions that may be less consuming of your time, money, and emotions. That said, not every case can resolve without a fight. I am willing to fight for you every step of the way.

Since 2006, I have served as a mediator in many family court disputes. As a mediator, I can assist you and your spouse or partner in reaching an amicable solution through mediation. While I cannot advise individuals when I act as the mediator, I have the experience and knowledge to help individuals understand the process and options and better assist them in resolving their family court issues.

As a former staff attorney for the York County Department of Social Services, I have a thorough understanding of the abuse and neglect system and the regulations that govern that system.  If you are contacted by SCDSS, please allow me to steer you through that process.

I have raised my son here and hope I have instilled in him the same belief my parents instilled in me:  service to others is a fundamental necessity for a healthy, well-functioning community. I am a member of St. Mary’s Church, where my son and I attend regularly. I am active in the Athletic and Academic Booster Clubs at South Pointe High School. I have been active with the Junior Welfare League, the Children’s Attention Home Board, the Early Learning Partnership Board, the Catawba Mental Health Board, the Family Promise Board, and the Christian Women’s Job Corps Board.

As a member of the South Carolina and York County Bars, I am honored to give back to the legal community. I currently serve on the Board of Governors and the Board for the South Carolina Bar Foundation. I am a member of the Supreme Court Historical Society. I have served as President of the York County Bar and I am a member of the South Carolina Women’s Lawyer Association.

I chose family law because it allows me the opportunity to help others within my immediate community, a privilege for which I am grateful. I understand the emotional and financial pressures of a divorce, separation, or custody dispute. I am here to help you see the light at the end of the tunnel. I am dedicated to ensuring you reach a resolution of your case that is fair to you and your family and keep you informed throughout the process. Let me guide you through this uncertain time, fight for your best interests and what matters most to you, and work to place you in the best possible position moving forward.
